Commencement is a special time for the university community and a milestone for soon-to-be University of Reston alumni.
Whether a student, faculty member, family member or friend, graduation is an important event that marks a momentous occasion in the lives of our graduates and the entire university community. As they near graduation, students and faculty members have the opportunity to receive a variety of Commencement honors. The Convocation is for all candidates having completed their degree and met their financial requirements.
Graduation Packets and Tickets
All students must apply to graduate. Students who have applied for graduation and indicated they will attend the ceremony will be issued packets. You must present a valid identification card (e.g., University of Reston card, driver’s license, passport).
Students participating in graduation will be given five tickets. If more than five tickets are needed, you can request them to be reserved. We cannot guarantee that any student will receive more than five tickets.
Cap & Gown Information
Academic graduates are required to wear cap and gown appropriate for their commencement. Caps and gowns are available to purchase online.
Graduation Invitation
The Campus Bookstore will have non-personalized announcements available for students send to your parents, friends, and family. Personalized announcements may be ordered online.
Photos at Your Commencement Ceremony
All graduates will also have the opportunity to have formal graduate portraits taken during their commencement ceremony.
Recycle your gown
Return your master’s gown to the Bookstore for recycling.
Graduation Plans Survey
Please take a few minutes to update us online about your post-graduate plans. All responses will be aggregated so that we can communicate the important contributions and accomplishments of University of Reston graduates. This information will also be used to improve our academic programs.
