The University of Reston is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all student information.
The University of Reston will only disclose records to designated parties as allowed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
Under FERPA, students have the following rights:
- To inspect and review their educational records within 45 days after the University receives a request for access to such records.
- To request amendment of their educational records if they are inaccurate.
- To consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained within their educational records, except for those disclosures FERPA has authorized without consent.
- To file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning an alleged failure by the University to comply with the requirements of FERPA.
